Wieliczka Salt Mine is 700 years old and it’s the oldest Polish company . From 1978 it’s at the honorable 1st UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage List. Every year it is visited by over one million tourists from around the world .
In the mine, over the centuries, developed unique therapeutic microclimate – there is constant temperature of 14 Celsius degrees. Mine is an intricate labyrinth , which consists of tunnels with a total length of over 300 km , 3,000 chambers and nine floors . The last floor is at a depth of 327 meters .
Two-kilometer guided tour includes 22 chambers connected with tunnels . Guide takes visitors to the ancient wells, shows mining machinery , mysterious salt lakes , sculptures, reliefs and unusual, impressive St. Kinga’s chamber.
People tired by underground walk can relax and eat something in the restaurant located at the end of the route.
The whole tour lasts about 4 hours. It starts and ends at the Matejko Square 2 (3 min. walk from the apartments) where the tour leader waits for participants. Visitors travel by modern, air-conditioned bus. For our guests we can book a tour ticket. Payment is at the tour company’s office before entering the bus. Price includes ride, guided tours, tour leader’s assistance and insurance.
We can offer our guests, arriving with a small child, the baby cot with a set of linen and towels. It’s a full-size cot. Our guests can also select the height at which mattress should be fitted (at half-height or standard – near the floor).
